Olson Kundig Website
Developed in partnership with design studio Civilization, the website is an immersive portfolio of the firm’s history and continuously evolving database of the latest news. With a redesigned interface aligned to Olson Kundig’s updated visual and brand identity, the enhanced browsing experience offers new perspectives across six decades of practice, inviting visitors to explore the people, projects, and culture at the heart of the firm.
Building on the existing framework established by Civilization, the new website is an evolution of the firm’s previous site that launched in 2019. Through a uniquely personalized creative process, Olson Kundig worked closely with Civilization on a series of preliminary studies to understand the audience and inform the new website’s editorial approach. Research included heatmapping tools to identify how users interacted with the existing site, interviews with team members, clients, and collaborators, and surveys across a diverse pool of industry professionals.

Our History
For the first time, the story of Olson Kundig’s origins and evolutions are presented to a global online audience. A feature titled Our History documents key highlights in the firm’s trajectory, offering a retrospective dating back to the early moments that ultimately led to its founding in 1966. This timeline provides a chronological overview of significant project and cultural milestones that shaped Olson Kundig’s past, present, and future.
Play
Building upon the new website’s experiential, multilayered framework, Play is a fully integrated media library and streaming platform that includes podcasts, interviews, project tours, lectures, and presentations. Complete with picture-in-picture functionality, users are able to stream audio and video while simultaneously navigating the site—allowing for a seamless journey tailored to every level of desired engagement.
Projects & People
Project pages have been redesigned to emphasize the people and process alongside the built work. The immersive, content-rich browsing experience allows for project descriptions to include audio, video, imagery, and text pairings. Similarly, team member profile pages have been expanded to further amplify the diverse voices behind Olson Kundig’s project portfolio.
